[Gitmo is] a major problem for America’s perception ... if it was up to me, I would close Guantanamo — not tomorrow, this afternoon.
the reason he wants it closed is purely perception, not that they aren't getting information that has saved countless lives, perception.
The News agencies are one of the biggest contributors to that as well. Why do the people want out of Iraq? Because all the News can report on is the negatives. Every time a soldier dies it is "frontpage news" (not that I think it isn't worth mentioning, but they signed up for the military, they knew that was a possibility, and if they were actually honored by the media I wouldn't have such a problem with it, but the media just uses them to spread anti-Iraq messages), the media twists words that people (mainly republicans) have said and taken them out of context, yet conveniently forget that most democrats were also for this war, they refuse to broadcast any stories about the good that we are doing in Iraq or the fact that most Iraqis are glad we are there (they merely focus on the minority that are not).
Let me know if you think I am completely off base or if you think I am right.
