Women more likely to be expelled under 'don't ask'

Postby Maximus the Destroyer on Thu Oct 08, 2009 9:21 pm

I'm glad we have activity in here again. Here is a story I saw today:
Women are far more likely than men to be kicked out of the military under the "don't ask, don't tell" policy against gays in uniform, according to government figures released Thursday that critics said reflect deep-seated sexism in the armed forces.

I have some theories myself but I would like to know what some people on here think before I post my comments.

Interesting post. I am not going to state my opinions on whether "gays" should be allowed in the military, but I will state some broad view points. It is nice to have as many people as possible in the military, for many different reasons. I consider it a privilege...women and men both alike. One question I have to ask is, does it really matter what your sexual preference is when being in the military? AND....If you are a homosexual, and in the military, should other military people really care what your sexual preference is? I might state my views later on, but for now I will leave those questions up in the air for discussion.

I'm not saying this is the reason, but it is something to consider before yelling sexual discrimination (everyone in America, I'm not sure about other countries, seems to want to just pull out the discrimination charge even if none exists). In a lesbian relationship, the dominant party typically has more masculine traits and would probably be more likely to join the military than "Prima Ballerina". Also, the typical stereotype of a gay man is that he is effeminate, which is not always the case and not all effeminate men are gay, that is just the stereotype but combat and the military probably don't attract many effeminate men. Also, not to say all women in the military are lesbians by any means, just that the more "masculine" a woman is, the more likely the military might be attractive to them.

As for the "does it matter" comment, I will say this and let you make your own decision. Assume you are not homosexual and another member is (and you know it). Would you go to the community shower with them? If you were assigned them as your buddy, would you cozy up with them in a slip trench? Ect.

It seems the Democrats always force on our soldiers what the majority of Americans reject in the US. The appeasement of the homosexual community shouldn’t be done at the expense of our armed forces. Recently there was an article regarding sexual abuses to both sexes in the military. It turns out that based on the male female ratio more male soldiers are being sexually abused by homosexuals then women being sexually abused by heterosexuals. Now they want to remove the don’t ask don’t tell policy and force this on our armed forces even more.
