Why do some Americans dislike liberals?

Postby SizarieldoR on Tue Mar 03, 2009 2:05 pm

I'm noticing recently that there is some sort of negative attitude in the US towards liberals. Especially after I saw that there exists a book called "How to Talk to a Liberal (if You Must)" by Ann Coulter, I realized that the USA was less welcoming to freedom than I used to think.
So,what do people mind about liberals?

Well, first, you have to realize that roughly half of the U.S. (maybe more) ARE "liberals". The second thing to realize is that Ann Coulter is about as conservative as one can get. Using her as a Gauge of the American people as a whole is like Using Michael Moore as a Gauge. Coulter has been described by The Observer as, "the Republican Michael Moore" and "Rush Limbaugh in a miniskirt."

It isn't so much that Americans dislike liberals as conservatives dislike liberals, and the reverse is true too, liberals dislike conservatives.

Even if it was that Americans disliked liberals, I don't see how that makes the USA any less welcoming to freedom. I dislike chocolate, that doesn't make me a freedom-hater. The English dislike guns, I don't see them being labeled anti-freedom.
"So of the stories you told me, which ones were true?"
"All of them were true."
"What about the lies?"
"Especially the lies."

I would like to add that Ann Coulter is about the most radical, dumb and extreme conservative I have ever seen. She would probably vote for Satan if he ran for President as the Republican nominee,

What I really think it is, is that their has to be competition in Washington at all times. America revolves around Capitalism, and politics is a huge business here. If there was only one side, it would be a monopoly. Conservatives vs. Liberals...that's the new game in American economics.

Mbut of course. :)

I was reading Al Gore's "Assault on Reason" recently, which, along with the statistics about percentage of Americans
being creationists and, worse, believing that Jesus will come in the next 30-40 years, made me somewhat concerned.

Oh, well, thanks for letting me know anyway.

When people criticize others for not following a given set of rules when they themselves do not follow those given set of rules (i.e. hypocrisy) they tend to be regarded in a negative manner (if people are aware of it).
Giving lectures about how everyone needs to reduce their carbon footprint, then not doing their own part (i.e. flying in private airliners or private jets everywhere, driving large vehicles, running a lot of electricity at home) is one example.
