'The War In Iraq's' Current Standing...

Postby AmericanPride on Fri Oct 17, 2008 6:46 am

Is the war in Iraq as violent and intense as it was, let's say, as last year (2007)? Have military forces drowned out the more intense fighting and rebel forces?

This is difficult for me to comprehend, due to only having news releases and information on the internet at my disposal. I have not seen combat in Iraq, and I do not know what is truly going on over there. I do believe that violence has diminished to a point where it is 'safe' for Iraqi forces to take over. What do you guys think?

Another question on my mind is: Is it possible for the U.S. to negotiate with the rebel forces attacking allied forces everyday? What are the chances of meetings being held negotiations being made with them? Would it be feasible?

Well, I'm not sure if it is good news for Iraq or bad news for Afghanistan, but American and allied combat deaths in Afghanistan in May passed the monthly toll in Iraq for the first time.

Yeah, too bad I knew one of those deaths, and happen to know two casualties which happened in Afghanistan this year. Thankfully, both of them are home and safe...can't say the same for one of them however.

The top U.S. military officer, Admiral Mike Mullen, said Sunday that he strongly supports Mr. Obama's Iraq withdrawal decision.

Of course he does, he is an ADMIRAL. Any time he has spent away from a desk was almost definitely on a ship in the middle of the ocean. I bet he doesn't even know what the phrase "boots on the ground" means...

That would be like asking a B-2 pilot about ending the war, they just fly their missions the sleep in their own beds (with their spouse if they have one) until their next mission.
