Differences of opinion, Typical of web forums

Postby KnightTemplar on Sun Feb 08, 2009 10:07 pm

I just want to point out, not that I have seen this, but feel free to disagree with the Admins and Mods. Just because we run this site doesn't mean we are allways correct in everything we say, especially when it comes to matters of opinion. As long as your arguments are done in a civil manner, you will never be penalized for having a differing opinion than a Moderator or Administrator.

This is a Democracy, we love opinions and we treat each opinion equally and welcome disputes with Admins or Moderators. We are not kings or tyrants.

Actually.... It isn't. For instance, if I got a petition together, with a majority of members signing it, to ban you and KT from the board, just because we don't like you, not because of any rule violation, it wouldn't happen.

To quote a line from the movie Independance Day.... "That's not, entirely, accurate".

The best description of the forum would be a dictatorship, but not a totalitarian dictatorship. In a PURE dictatorship the government is ruled by an individual, the dictator, without hereditary ascension. (the "dictator" here would be me, if I can no longer be active, GF takes over. As GF and I are not related, it is not hereditary ascension.) Their power was originally neither arbitrary nor unaccountable, being subject to law and requiring retrospective justification. (we still have to follow the rules too, and as long as no one is breaking rules they should be fine.) It definately isn't a democracy because I wasn't voted in, and in all honesty can't be voted out without the site disbanding.

All that being said, I point you back to my first post here. I am not the end all be all of military knowledge, and can be wrong (as can any of the other staff or members). If we are wrong (or you think we may be wrong) challenge us. I certianly don't want to be perpitrating lies (or untruths) here.
