Ok, I can't believe I am writing this. I fully expect AP to hunt me down for this, and Hobilar to have a field day...
I was watching Numbers last night (a past episode), and realized that I owe Hobilar an apology of sorts.
In the show, there was a train crash (A freight train got on the wrong rail line and was hit by a passenger train). The head FBI agent was covering his bases and asked someone else to contact Homeland Security to see if there was a terrorism connection. The new agent overheard him and while questioning the surviving freight train conductor, kept accusing the other conductor of being a terrorist (solely based on the fact she heard "terrorism" and the conductor was a Syrian immigrant).
That got me thinking, and I realized that, sure it was a TV show, but I have run across several people like that. I know I'm not a racist, elitist, inconsiderate, self-centered, human being (and I hope I don't come across as one), I know that there are several Americans (as well as people from other countries) who fall into at least one, if not all, of the aforementioned categories.
I personally think that most Americans (politicians excluded) are good people, but it is the loud, obnoxious, minority, and not the quiet majority, that tends to make an impact, especially to those from other countries.
