Think an activist's blogging could threaten your national security? Well, the United State's government does. A site 'Twitter' has been targeted by the 304th Military Intelligence Battalion as a 'terrorist' threat. This is because of the potential for terrorists to gather GPS coordinates, maps and so forth, in order to organize an attack. Now personally this was a good move by the 304th seeing how they noticed how potentially deadly this site could be for terrorist groups. However they managed to pick out something else which could be a more fatal threat to national securities around the globe!!!
They also see the site as a refuge for activists such as vegetarians, human rights groups, anarchists, communists...and maybe even the occult (although it was not mentioned).
Now let's break this down a bit.
1. Vegetarians - I see this group being the most threatening to national security. They could easily gain knowledge to poison the meats we over-consume on a daily basis, so that they can bring forth their ultimate goal on turning everyone vegetarian. They're sneaky, cunning and don't be surprised if one tries to take you down with a spoon full of tofu.
2. Communists - HERE WE GO!!! Post Korean War comes back into play. The horrible and dreadful Communists are still at large, and will do anything to gain control of the United States and force them into government control like they did in '1984' and 'V for Vendetta'.
3. Anarchists - Not so threatening, but still a problem. Although most of them will follow every rule their government has ever made (stopping at a stop sign, looking left and right before turning, paying taxes, etc.), they still feel that they can live without government breathing down their necks.
4. Human Rights Groups - The least threatening to National Security, but still has potential to be. Although they wouldn't be able to do much harm to humans (because that would just go against what they stand for), they could still get us with their clever paper writing and speaking skills. They could lead the mob towards Capitol Hill and stand harmlessly out in the weather until someone gives in to their demands.
I can see what the 304th meant by Twitter being a threat to national security. They just didn't target terrorists, but they also targeted the smaller more seen groups.
