Sea Skimming Missiles

I was thinking (I know, a dangerous experience), and was wondering about sea skimming missiles such as the Harpoon and Exocet. Well, they are designed to fly below the radar, the question though is, how would they fare against a missile defense system (or conversely how would the missile defense system fare against them)?
