SIIA 'Pink Panther'

Approximately a hundred Series IIA 109"s were adapted by the SAS for desert use. These vehicles were designed for long distance reconnaissance and special operation missions. Although the SIIA version is the most famous, similar vehicles based on the Series 3 109" and 110 vehicles have also been used. The US Rangers currently use a 110-based vehicle for a similar role.

Looks a lot like the Jeep, though I would assume not as popular since you really don't see them around much.
I detest life-insurance agents; they always argue that I shall some day die, which is not so.

The Land Rover has had an impressive history since the first one was launched in 1948. It was even better at off road then the WWII Jeeps. Since then they have tranversed the world.

Somewhere I heard (dont know that this is true or not) that for 40% of the world the first vehicle they ever saw was a Land Rover.

Back in the early 1970s I once found myself posted to a large Depot in the west of England. For our convenience the Station Commander had placed a number of elderly Land Rovers around the base to be used as 'General Hacks'. Unfortunately most of these vehicles had decidely wobbly steering and a number lacked even such essential items as Brakes.

Which could often make the race to be the first to get to the Sergeants' Mess Bar at lunchtime a decidely 'Hairy' experience.
