CONVOY'S

Postby george babony on Thu Apr 10, 2008 2:25 pm

It has been debated that had the allies not effectivly countered the U boats, the war would have been won by the axis powers. My question is as the poll indicates....would the same tactic work today.....would convoys be able to be protected and would there be a need too. Or should air cargo be employed and could they be protected.

I choose "Other".

Depends on the purpose of said convoy as well as destination.

Logistical transportation from friendly areas to friendly areas (America to England) I see no problem using airraft. Invasions (D-Day) are another story completely. Transportation within "Hot Zones" currently use aircraft, though occasionally they get shot down.
