I live in the Harrisburg area of PA. There is a Navy Depot near where I do all of my running around at, and today on my way home from taking some boring finals, I followed five Bradleys going down I-81 heading towards the Depot. Now, these vehicles were probably coming from the manufacturing plant here in PA. I can also imagine that it is one boring ride, riding in the back of those things going down an interstate. There were personnel visible from the vehicle, and each one looked like they were about to pass out. People were passing, not caring and all. However I did pass them, but each one I made sure that I beeped the horn and waved to all the guys on the back of those Bradleys. Each one of them gave a huge smile and waved back. It almost seemed like I made their day, because they got someone to pay attention to them. I hope it was a morale booster for them, and I wished I could have had the chance to talk to them and thank them for doing their jobs.
Has anyone ever experienced something like this before? For now on, I'm going to make sure I wave or smile at each soldier I pass or see in public...although they might think I may be mentally disturbed grinning like an idiot and waving to them.
