New members please post a little about yourself here.

I'll start this off.

My name is Chris. I am an Eagle Scout and Assistant Scoutmaster. I am currently going to school for Construction Engineering Technology and working for The Comfort Group (a mechanical contractor). I am 25 and love military history, hardware, and tactics. Medical problems kept me out of the military or I would probably be doing that now.

My name is David. I retired from the Army in 1994 after serving in the Army Finance Corps for 22 years. During my time in the Army I did not see any "action". I enlisted in 1972 as we were pulling out of Vietnam, did not participate in Grenada, Panama or Desert Shield/Desert Storm. My claim to fame is that after I retired moved back to North Alabama, within two years I spent more time in a tent with my son's Boy Scout troop than I did in my 22 years in the Army.

My son and daughter-in-law are both serving in the Army and are stationed at Camp Humphreys, Korea. They are expecting their first child (boy) around August 17th. I have one other daughter living with her husband and two tax deductions in the area.

I am a strong supporter of our service men and women and try to keep informed of programs and benefits.

I am Ciaran, a student over here in the UK.

Although I have never been in the military, I am considering it (probably in the TA (Territorial Army, for those not familiar with UK armed forces), or "Weekend Soldiers" as the slang goes...) mainly to gain crucial leadership, physical and mental skills that will no doubt serve me very well for the rest of my life.

Although I like "things that go boom'", I am not unaware of the pain and suffering caused by them, but I also recognise that they are neccessary to preserve the freedoms that we enjoy. I am mainly into rifles, but I also dabble in tanks and artillery; basically any land-based engine of destruction and their deployment.

I also enjoy war games (Operation Flashpoint for instance) that test my skills and strategies to the limits, but I recognise the line between games and reality. Any other shooters I play I always inist on at least getting modifications that provide reallistic weapons (with representations of real weapons where possible).

Thanks for your time, and see you on the field :D

Hello, my name is Ivan and i'm from Bulgaria.
Since about an year i am a military geek and i like, like all boys, playing soldiers.

I find strategy and tactic cool, in addition to the group of real men, led by intelligent people and playing with cool toys, called "the army." I guess it's in my psychology as a male.

I do recognize, however, that just as all things have a bright side and a dark side, the bright side of war is especially bright and the dark side is amazingly disgusting and shocking, yet i still consider "playing soldiers", broadly speaking, entertainment.

So, i hope i have good time here.

I'm a Stephen too (so 2 named Stephen and 2 named Chris so far?)

I just stumbled across this site and thought I'd check it out. I am a huge fan of Military Aircraft and studied Aerospace Engineering for a while (though no degree). I hope I can be helpful here.

Because Im active duty, I'll try and give as much info as I can without violating OPSEC (Oerational Security) and PERSEC (Personal Security). I thought Id check this out and after looking at it, it seems pretty cool. Just looking around Ive already learned some stuff. Ok enough of the small talk heres my intro:

Im Dennis and Im in the Army. I enjoy learning about history because you have to know where youve been to know where youre going. If you need to know anything else just ask.

If you don't mind me asking, are you enlisted or commissioned and would you consider yourself a "lifer"?

Hi, well, I'll just get this over--I'm Canadian, live in Montreal English is not my first language. I have many family members in the armed forces, and I am still considering joining up myself. I joined here because I study history, and the best way to learn about what really happened is to find as many perspectives on the event as possible. Also Chris black mailed me :P

Well, here goes. I live on the eastern most tip of Long Island, NY, USA and am from a military family, although I had plans on enlisting, health and marriage changed those plans. All my family were and are Army except for my grandfather who served in the Army, Navy and National Guard (that is part of the military, correct?). All my family members were in infantry, in WWI and WWII. Half were in the South Pacific during WWII (paramedics and in charge of setting up communications of the islands) and half were in Europe (Bombers and Infantry). I had family in the Korean Conflict, Vietnam Conflict, the Gulf War as well as family now stationed over in the Mid-East.

My spouse was from a patriotic family who served and are still serving in the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Marines and Navy. There are family members still serving and stationed over in the Mid-East also.

To sum it all up, I am a very patriotic individual with a large military family background, and from the stories I have been told, the things I have read and seen, I hold our military in the highest esteem, covered in constant prayer as well as their families. I know nothing about the war craft and tactics, but, I will try to contribute where I am able. :salute:

We all have our own strengths and weaknesses and KT does a good job diffusing any issues that do arise. I don't think anyone here will mind if the posts aren't eloquent (Firefox and it's built in spell check are my friend, otherwise my posts would be full of misspelled words).

By the way, Welcome.
