Life for All, after the Military...

Postby General Forestry on Mon Mar 31, 2008 10:07 pm

This spring semester of college, I experienced something I have not been exposed to a whole lot in my studies. I am currently in an English class where there are four ex-military (all young and from different branches...either just off of active duty, or in the reserves of their branch). I asked one individual about the change from being ready for combat, to concentrating on a degree and how the transition went. They had positive thoughts and comments but were most happy to say that going to school after the military may have been a better decision. From drilling, they aquired dicipline and concentration to focus on their studies, and gain their ultimate goal. They also received money to get their education and keep up in today's society. I just found it very interesting, but I guess it is strange to me since I was not able to experience military life...going from push-ups and "hooh-ahs!" (correct me if I'm wrong) to pencils and books.
