Gas prices not just a problem for civilians

Postby Luther Sloan on Sun Jun 29, 2008 9:09 pm

Military units fighting in Iraq and elsewhere will see another hike in fuel costs next week. The cost increase will be the second time the Defense Department has had to raise rates in the middle of the budget year because of soaring oil prices.

The new costs translate to about $4.07 a gallon for jet fuel and $4.70 a gallon for diesel.

I find that interesting since Middle East gas is some of the cheapest in the world
Saudi Arabia Riyadh $0.91
Kuwait Kuwait City $0.78
Egypt Cairo $0.65
Nigeria Lagos $0.38
Venezuela Caracas $0.12

Now, I would like to point out that while we in the U.S. we tend to think our $4 per gallon gas is unbearable, we really should consider how bad it could be.

Netherlands Amsterdam $6.48
Norway Oslo $6.27
Italy Milan $5.96
Denmark Copenhagen $5.93
Belgium Brussels $5.91
Sweden Stockholm $5.80
United Kingdom London $5.79

I think that list is a little outdated. If you look at the last sentence before the table it states
All prices updated March, 2005.

Anyone know of a more recent list?

That one is more recent. Still only over $10 / Gallon in the Netherlands though. I do have to say, it looks like we have it good over here.

Thanks Goliath.

Yeah, looks like we do have it good (relitively)
