Favorite Quotes from Band of Brothers

Postby Maximus the Destroyer on Sat Dec 27, 2008 11:45 am

List any of your favorite quotes from Band of Brothers here, or request information about quotes.

First one is a request for some information..

Hobilar, as our resident British member, can you provide some information on the following quote?
Hoobler: Holy ***t!
British Soldier: Nah it's alright mate, we're tommies not boche.
Hoobler: Is all this real?
British Soldier: Yeah, yeah. Well some of it's from the Hermans something these toes knocked up. For you lads actually, so you can get your mince pies on some of this Jerry clobber, if you know what I mean?
Hoobler: Not really. Hey mate, you got a Luger? I'm dying to get my hands on a real Luger.
British Soldier: Yeah go on then, quick butchers yeah?
Hoobler: Boy she sure is a doozy.
British Soldier: Yeah it's pukka innit?
Hoobler: What?
British Soldier: Hey?
Hoobler (walking away): Hey Petty!
British Soldier: Here, mate! You're having a bath if you think you're half-inching that.
Hoobler: Oh yeah, sorry. Well good luck.
British Soldier: You too mate.

First, is that an accurate representation of any British dialect? Second, can you translate for those that don't understand, such as myself?

Episode 1 -
Sobel: What's your name, trooper?
Malarkey: Malarkey, sir.
Sobel: Malarkey. Is that slang for bulls**t?
Malarkey: Yes sir!

Episode 5 -
Hashey: Jesus Christ...It's a whole other company!
Martin: No s**t!

Episode 6 -
Guarnere: Crazy Joe" McKlosky was f**king nuts... that's why they called him "Crazy Joe!

Episode 10 -
Perconte: Hey George!
Luz: Yeah?
Perconte: Kind of remind ya of Bastogne?
Luz: Yeah, now that you mention it... Except, of course, there's no snow, we got warm grub in our bellies, and the trees aren't f**kin' exploding from Kraut artillery, but yeah... Frank... other than that, it's a lot like Bastogne.

America has never been an empire. We may be the only great power in history that had the chance, and refused – preferring greatness to power and justice to glory. - George W. Bush

Anyone know all the imitations that George Luz did?

Here are some of my favorites...

2nd Lt. George Rice: Looks like you guys are going to be surrounded.
Richard Winters: We're paratroopers, Lieutenant. We're supposed to be surrounded.

Ronald Spiers: The only hope you have is to accept the fact that you're already dead. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you'll be able to function as a soldier is supposed to function: without mercy, without compassion, without remorse. All war depends upon it.

Warren Muck: Hey, even First Sergeant Lipton there, he got a couple of pieces of a tank shell burst in Carentan. One chunk in the face, the other chunk nearly took out his nuts.
Bill Guarnere: How are those nuts, Sarge?
Carwood Lipton: They're doing fine, Bill. Nice of you to ask.

Richard Winters: We're not lost, Private... we're in Normandy.

Old Man on Bicycle: [raising his hands in the air] You've done it now, Yanks. You've captured me.
Richard Winters: [chuckles]
Herbert Sobel: [shouting in the background] Heigh-Ho Silver!
Old Man on Bicycle: Would that be the enemy?
Richard Winters: As a matter of fact... yes.

Lt Peacock: Jeez captain they're SS.

Doc: Hey Bill how's the leg?
Guarnere: Never mind the leg doc Im pissing needles here.
Doc: .... What can I say Bill drink plenty of water
Guarnere: ??? It's pissin' that hurts

Richard D. Winters: Let me know if you run into any trouble.
Cpt. Nixon: Yeah, and you let me know if you run into any bacon sandwich.

There are a lot of good lines in Band of Brothers. It's hard to pick favorites.
