Deployment

Postby count1man on Mon Jul 20, 2009 11:40 am

After being out of the Army for a year my son reported to Ft. Jackson, SC in June answering a recall order. After a couple of weeks there he was sent to Ft. Rucker, AL for two week of refresher training in his field (MOS). He is now At. Ft. Sill, OK awaiting for deployment with his unit. Instead of going to Afghanistan as his original orders indicated, her is heading for Balad (AB), Iraq. the really bad news is that they are scheduled to depart on my birthday... August 5th.

Sorry to hear that. I thought we were supposed to be leaving Iraq, not sending people there.

He's finished his processing at Ft. Jackson and two week refresher training at Ft. Rucker. He is now with his unit at Ft. Sill counting down the days until they leave. They are not aurhtorized to leave the post under any circumstances adn must have a buddy with them any time they leave the company area.

I guess the good news is that he passed hise PT test, and due to some changes in the promotion points (due to being recalled) he has enough point for promotion (E-5) . All he needs is to appear in front of the promotion board and be recommend. Which he says will happen soon.

How did the promotion board go?
