Board Rules

Postby KnightTemplar on Wed Jul 25, 2007 9:43 am

Hello All and Welcome to Military Power! I would like to thank each and every one of you for joining this site and supporting it. This site was created to allow those who love the military, military tech, and/or military history from around the world to communicate and discuss their thoughts with each other. Here are a few rules we would like you to follow when posting:
1. Please be honest with us about your actual age. As of now there are no age restrictions but for site census and possible post content reasons we need to know how old you really are.
2. Plagiarism is strictly prohibited. This includes both copyrighted materials and free sources such as wikipedia. DO NOT copy and paste any copyrighted materials including news articles, protected pictures, etc without permission from the owner or the appropriate sighting of sources.
3. Keep arguments on these forums civil and orderly. No ethnic, sexist, or other slurs will be allowed. This forums has less posting restrictions than many others like it but don't take advantage of that by causing a bad situation.
4. Do not create "country vs. country" threads, if you must compare your country's military to another, keep it civil.
5. If you disagree with someone on the forum DO NOT attack them personally (i.e. "You are so stupid if you think that..."), challenge their comments only.
6. Due to fact that there is no minimum age for this site, the posting or distributing of pornography of any kind through this website is strictly forbidden, and will be dealt with swiftly and strongly. There will also be a limited word filter in effect. Attempting to bypass the filter will result in a 50% warn level and demotion by one full level.

MOST IMPORTANTLY:
Always follow OPSEC. Do not post any information that, if in the hands of the wrong person, could lead to the harm or death of our soldiers. For example, where a unit is being deployed. If you find material that you believe to be compromising, inform me (KnightTemplar) immediately and I will determine the steps to take.

If you feel that another member of Military Power is not complying with the rules and regulations, please send one of the moderators a Private Message including the member in question and where the rules have been broken. The "whistle blower" will be kept anonymous.

Administrator and Moderator Rules:
No moderator or Admin may Suspend a user's account unless they have followed all of the steps laid out in the Progression of Offenses in this post, and never for more than 1 week. If a Moderator or Admin feels that a member should be suspended for more than a week, they must discuss it with the Root Admin (KnightTemplar) and, the Root Admin will suspend their account for the allotted time if deemed necessary.

No member shall receive a Dishonorable Discharge unless unanimously agreed upon by at least 75% of the Board Moderators (Super Moderators) and Administrators. The member in question shall be suspended until 75% of the Board Moderators and Admins have voted, or until a vote against banning the member is encountered, which ever comes first.

Any Moderator or Administrator who does not follow these rules will, on the first offense receive a warning, and be required to submit an apology to the member(s) involved and send the message to the Root Admin as well. On the second offense they shall have their privileges revoked for a period of no less than 1 week. On the third offense, they shall have there privileges revoked permanently. If they broke any other board rules those warnings will also be in effect.

Progression of offenses and punishments will go as listed:

First offense- 5% warn level, message from a Moderator or Admin detailing what the offense was.

Second offense- 25% warn level, one day post restriction, message from a Moderator or Admin detailing what the offense was.

Third offense- 50% warn level, four day post restriction, message from an Admin detailing what the offense was.

Fourth offense-75% warn level, one week post restriction, message from the Root Admin (KnightTemplar) detailing what the offense was.

Final offense-100% warn level, two week post restriction, message from the Root Admin (KnightTemplar) detailing what the offense was. Any other offenses will result in probation until further notice and possible DD

Plagiarism Any number of offenses more that the five offense limit will result in immediate DD

At four offenses, the person in question will be allowed to make a plea to the site moderator and ask for "forgiveness." If he or she is given another chance, after a probation period the member's capabilities will be restored but they will be held at a 50% warn level for a full month.

If appropriate, demotions may be used instead of or in addition to other punishments.

Stay on the topic of the thread. If the thread gets off topic I may delete the off topic posts or, if it is another military related topic, I may split the thread. If it gets to be a problem I may start implimenting the punishments listed above.

Admin and Mod note:
For minor offenses you may repeat the "First offense" punishments as you see fit, but must explain to the offender the reasons for their warnings. Use your discretion as to if the offense is major enough to warrant further disciplinary action.

This was accurate as of 7/25/07 Please refer to The Courtmartial Offenses for the most recent Rules

Addenda:
Due to recent events, I am forced to ad more in the way of rules to this site.
7) In conjunction with numbers 3 through 5, this being an international forum, it is obvious, from past posts, that there are several "generalizations" that are made about members of other countries, which tend to lead to bitter arguments. Any posts that are perceived to be goading or looking to start a "fight" will be deleted (as will any posts that continue or return the attacks). Repeat offenders will be dealt with in a manner that is appropriate for the situation.
"Superior training and superior weaponry have, when taken together, a geometric effect on overall military strength. Well-trained, well-equipped troops can stand up to many more times their lesser brethren than linear arithmetic would seem to indicate."
